Advent Prayer

Advent Prayer

We offer you this material intended for Advent time

Advent is a joyful time of waiting for the coming of the Lord Jesus. Hope, joy for the event of God made a child helps us to be looking forward to the Good News that Christmas brings us. The most emblematic biblical figures represent key moments of the History of Salvation: Isaiah, John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary are reference and vocational models. The prophet recreates the lost and “diluted” hope in the struggles and avatars of the chosen people who, far from God, the Covenant and the Earth return again to God. The Baptist embodies the prophecy that prepares for the coming of the Messiah, the fulness of the Word. It paves the way and the path of conversion and openness to the Project of God, to the Kingdom of justice and dignity. Finally, Mary of Nazareth is the faithful YES to the Word of God. It is the incarnate obedience that embraces the “logic” of the Mystery of God. The openness to the Spirit and the consent that makes it possible to live the call to follow Jesus.

Biblical text: (Lk. 1, 30-32a. 35a.38a.)

“Fear not Mary, for God has bestowed upon you his favor. You will conceive and bear a son, to which you will name Jesus. He will be great, he will be called Son of the Most High. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will cover you with his shadow. Mary said, “Here is the slave, be done in me according to your Word.”

The Word of the Lord

“Listen to the Word of God, be your ears attentive to his voice”

Brief reference to the text

  • Children and young people’s prayers (three per week)
  • Father, help us to be attentive to your Word. We ask for children and young people who live in a situation of abandonment and exclusion so that they can find those who accompany and take care of them.
  • Jesus, let us not forget today of those who suffer the most, that we do not hesitate to be generous and supportive by giving our best.
  • May following the example of Mary and the testimony of Calasanz trust your Word and accept with humility and simplicity of heart the call that You make to grow in Piety and Letters.

Our Father.
