Prayer of abandonment

Prayer of abandonment

We offer you this Prayer of the Abandonment of Charles of Foucauld

My father,

I abandon myself to You.

Make me what you want.

What ever you make of me, I appreciate it,

I’m willing to do anything,

I accept everything.

As long as Your will is done in me

And in all your creatures,

I don’t want anything else, my God.

I put my life in Your hands.

I give it to you, my God,

with all the love of my heart,

because I love you,

and because for me to love you is to give myself,

surrendering myself to Your hands without measure,

with infinite confidence,

because You are my Father.

I am ready for this moment of prayer asking for the Holy Spirit.

I read slowly and repeatedly the prayer. Watch out for the feelings and thoughts it arouses in me. I note them and offer them to Jesus.

I contemplate Jesus in Gethsemane, on the Cross, in his moments of praying intimacy with the Father. He has embodied this prayer and is eager to live it in me.

  • What makes it difficult for me to abandon myself in God’s hands? I note it and present it to Jesus; I ask for his freedom… and I pray with Him again with the awareness that He is with me.
  • Is there anything I’m suggested to incorporate into my life?

I appreciate the meeting and what I have received in prayer.
